An officer from the Scarsdale Police Department was on patrol shortly after 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, when he spotted a 2019 Honda Accord parked in the right southbound lane of Post Road with the engine running and key fob inside the vehicle.
Police said that the driver was in the front seat, behind the wheel, sleeping and covered in what appeared to be vomit. Additional officers were called to the scene, but failed to wake him up several times before he finally stirred as an officer removed the key from the ignition.
According to police, when asked how many drinks he had, the driver - Medford resident Daniel Santiago Perez, 31 - said “two beers” in White Plains, where he allegedly works security. When asked what time he left work, Santiago Perez said “3 a.m.”
The officer said that while speaking with Santiago Perez, he “detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath.” His eyes were also allegedly glassy and bloodshot.
Santiago Perez proceeded to fail Standard Field Sobriety Tests and he was arrested for driving while intoxicated, and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent, both misdemeanors. No return court date has been announced for Santiago Perez.
